THE REVIEW: FIVE HINDRANCES TO GROWTH IN GRACE.

It was an honor to read this book in conjunction with Covenant Child Fellowship at the University of Lagos. The timely weekly review allowed for better knowledge and formation.

I was reading six books at the same time.

One each from GTG, Bookathon, the faculty fellowship, a buddy, and a proofreader for my soon-to-be-published works.

I am the type of person that can multi-task and yet be effective, so it came naturally to me. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's trapped in the between.

What I've learnt is reflected in this review.

- Attempting to be like other people, both in the sense of trying to be like the rest of the world and even other Christians. Being who God created you to be, not someone else's. It's not always the large things; it's often the little things, such as worldly goods, amusement, pleasure, and sports, which we refer to as legitimate.

- Vocality (talkativeness is a great hindrance to growth in grace). The simplicity of a fool's speech identifies him. This is why so many people never hear what He has to say; they never get quiet enough to listen. Even when asking for things, you should not come before God every time asking for things, worship Him, and be still before Him. Studying to be quiet is where the long-awaited result can be found.

- Lazy to grow in grace. They're ruled by flesh. They follow their bodies' commands. When you arrive home from work and are extremely fatigued, the Holy Spirit may urge you to do specific things, but you are hell-bent on being exhausted. Do not be a slacker when it comes to following directions. Don't put off loving and submitting because you're lazy. You did hear me correctly. As an example, consider the following:

You are the oldest among your siblings, and you have told them to clean the dishes, but they refuse, and you are irritated. Meanwhile, you could do this for your housemates while still in school and not get exhausted. The pride is what keeps you from doing the same at home. To grow in grace, you must consistently walk in love and surrender.

- The three different types of looseness.

In thoughts. Allowing unprofitable or unsightly thoughts to run amok. You can't stop these thoughts from coming, but you can keep them from consuming your mind. The author expressed his gratitude to God for allowing him to be free of such ideas. That also works for me. Invoke the Holy Spirit to assist you in determining what works best for you.

In habits. Thousands of Christians have the potential and the opportunity to succeed, but many are too aimless and haphazard in their habits to do so. For example, if tasks/things are neglected and stacked up, they will inevitably be neglected and piled up spiritually. It's not a misconception to believe that there will never be a breakthrough; if one's life is disorderly in one area, it will spill over into one's spiritual existence. Maintain your discipline.

In life. We are not to be careless in any way, shape, or form in our lives. Allow your yes to be yes and your no to be no.

- Lightness. The world is lighter. We should be cautious about what we read. They resemble the food you consume. Some nourish the body, while others nurture the mind.

In singing, everything that has the moniker "Gospel" is not always Gospel. We must learn to be receptive to the Holy Spirit. Overall, a worthwhile read.

Steven Loya's "The Scam" should be my next book to review. You don't want to miss this opportunity. I tried an incredible DIY last week and would love to share it in the upcoming post.
